How can I more deeply engage with Acton if I don’t live in West Michigan?
How can I more deeply engage with Acton if I don’t live in West Michigan?

Acton has been blessed with a wonderful building in the heart of downtown Grand Rapids where we host dozens of events each year. Despite our presence in munity, most of Acton’s constituents live outside of West Michigan. If you’re one of those individuals, there are plenty of ways to engage with the institute or share Acton’s mission and message in your munity. Our online PowerBlog (blog.acton.org) features new blogposts daily, but you can also keep up with Radio Free Acton, a podcast featuring engaging videos and interviews about current events dealing with the intersection of faith and economics. There are videos of nearly every Acton Lecture Series and evening speaker, as well as videos of Acton analysts appearing on local and national news broadcasts. You can also subscribe to Acton at subscribe.acton.org. There, you can sign up to receive our bimonthly publication, Acton Notes, our weekly email, Acton News and Commentary, an RSS feed to Acton’s PowerBlog, or if you haven’t already, this quarterly magazine. Thanks to our generous donors, these subscriptions are free. If you’re familiar with our work and want to introduce a friend, you can do that at acton.org/webform/refer-friend.

Seminarians and pastors might also be interested in the Journal of Markets & Morality. This peer-reviewed academic journal is published twice a year—Spring and Fall—and promotes the intellectual exploration of the relationship between economics and morality from both a social science and a theological perspective.

If you’re interested in live events, Acton hosts lectures and gatherings nationwide featuring nationally recognized experts on faith and policy issues, including Rev. Robert Sirico. Be sure to visit our events page online or at the back of the latest issue of Acton Notes.

If you’re familiar with an Acton produced documentary or video series and want to share it with your peers, consider hosting a screening in your hometown. For information about screening the PovertyCure Video Series or Poverty, Inc., you can email [email protected]. To learn more about hosting For the Life of the World, you can email [email protected], or if you’re interested in leading a bible study and want to purchase leadership products, email [email protected].

Died: Lin Chih
Peter Chih-Ping Lin (林治平), who launched a Christian magazine for those outside the church that grew into a sprawling, eclectic ministry, died of pancreatic cancer on April 27 at the age of 86 in Taipei. With little financial support, in 1973, Lin founded what became Christian Cosmic Light Holistic Care Organization, which sought to reach non-Christians through art, academic research,...
God Is Worthy of Devotion
God is Worthy of Devotion Weekly Overview: It’s vital to the Christian life that we as sons and daughters of the most high God allow our affections to be stirred by the loving, powerful nature of our heavenly Father. Too often we feel that God is distant or separated from us. Too often we allow misconceptions or lies to place...

After months of delay and a legal dispute, the first episode of The Chosen, Season Four, will drop on the shows app at 7 p.m. Eastern on Sunday. The wait is finally over. The response from those whove seen Season 4 in theaters was that this is our best season, so I cant wait to deliver these episodes free and...
The World We Have Lost
It’s a well-known fact that historians generally don’t like historical fiction. Movies set in past periods of history, “based on real events” or not, generally put our teeth on edge. Such fictions are ordinarily filled with ridiculous anachronisms. The anachronisms are most obvious when mushy modern phrases from our therapeutic culture—urging us to share our feelings or hoping we are...
America’s Transfer State
The runaway entitlements of today’s transfer state reflect some of the inherent flaws in democracy. Liberal democracy has succeeded in protecting minorities by constitutionalizing rights. But it is much harder to prevent current majorities from harming future ones, endangering the liberty and security of all. Democracy’s critics have always worried that the numerous poor would take from the rich, impoverishing...
Cultivating the American Life
Several years ago, my wife and I moved to an old stone farmhouse in a rural part of Frederick County, Maryland. In all the time we spent restoring the house and cultivating the land, however, we did not think much about the house’s history. In fact, for a long time we had naively assumed—and erroneously told people—that the house was...
Things Yet to Come
Weekend, June 1, 2024 Things Yet to Come Six days later Jesus took Peter and the two brothers, James and John, and led them up a high mountain to be alone. (Matthew 17:1 NLT) Jesus felt that it was time for Peter, James, and John to experience a glimpse of His glory, a moment when they would see Him for...
The Harrowing of Hollywood
For much of the twentieth century, films about faith were either earnest epics such as The Greatest Story Ever Told and The Robe or syrupy depictions of self-effacing clergy as in The Bells of St. Mary’s and Boys Town. The end of the old production code in the late ’60s provided new opportunities not only for more challenging depictions of...
Guilty Verdict Shakes Trump Supporters’ Faith—in the Justice System
Donald Trumps historic felony conviction in New York on Thursday hasnt deterred his evangelical supporters. Instead, along with fellow Trump loyalists, they have directed their ire at the justice system that issued a guilty verdict against him. People think this is kind of the end of America, Chad Connelly, CEO of Faith Wins, a conservative Christian organization, told CT. I...
India’s Christians Brace for 2024 Election Results
As Indias monumental elections finally come to an end this week, all eyes are on the extent of the mandate that will be handed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Hindu nationalist party. Especially among the subcontinents estimated 28 million Christians, for whom the result will test whether religious freedom and secularism will be preserved in the worlds largest...
