Double-edged sword: The power of the Word - Hebrews 7:25
Double-edged sword: The power of the Word - Hebrews 7:25

Therefore, He is able to pletely those e to God through Him, because He always lives to intercede for them.

The entire life, death, and resurrection of Christ was an intercessory act for humanity. It continues to this day, where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for us. All of eternity is passed by the priestly act of His intercession. "The expression 'at the right hand' must therefore be understood in this sense: to exist in a state of perfect blessedness, where there is justice, peace and joy," said Augustine. The great joy is that his intercessory work is an effectual and permanent work in saving us because Christ is the once and final sacrifice. The Lord in the 110th Psalm promised us a priest forever. He is not a priest with imperfections nor does his priestly office ever end. He always has the will and ear of the Father.

It is reassuring that Christ joined our flesh to be our advocate. That same flesh, our big brother, reigns at the highest, most exalted point in the heavens. He is not just a mere observer of our trials and failings but he bore that all up in Himself because of Holy Divine Love. He intercedes for us because he is "touched with the feelings of our infirmities." (Hebrews 4:15)

The entire character and ministry of Christ is interceding for us on our behalf. It is a blessed assurance during our trials, sin, and shame. From all of eternity he saw the wickedness of humanity but His love triumphed over all evil.

How would we then feel if our salvation depended on us? What If we had to toil hour by hour to make ourselves right and acceptable before our Father? It is much more reassuring to leave the work to Christ and put our trust in Him. The good news is that our salvation does not depend on our work and our holiness but His work and His holiness.

Simply put, His deepest desire is to advocate for us. Hanging on the cross with torn and broken flesh, suffering immensely, still he advocated for those who sent our Savior there and persecuted Him. He advocated and remembered the dying thief who hung beside Him. (Luke 23:34)

Our world today is plagued with fear, loneliness, and despair. Economic times are discouraging to say the least. Our national leaders have failed us. Often the people closest to us fail us. However, when we look up to the King of Kings, we can always see the true covenant of love, devotion, and intercession.

Restoration of Authority
Weekly Overview: The story of the prodigal son moves my heart to delve into the depths of God’s limitless grace. I find myself in every facet of Jesus’ words. I identify with both the son’s rebellion and the power of the father’s love. As children of God we are in constant need of reminders about God’s mercy toward us. When...
The Resilience of Natural Law
At its inception in seventeenth-century England, our liberal order held that law must be humble. Brutal political conflict had proved that we are incapable of knowing basic moral and social truths. With fundamental disagreement inescapable, law must defer to skepticism and relativism. Humble law would provide just enough stability to leave people free to safely craft their own truths, identities,...
The Key to Fighting Temptation (Luke 22:40)
The Key to Fighting Temptation By: Betsy St. Amant Haddox And when he came to the place, he said to them, “Pray that you may not enter into temptation.” -Luke 22:40 (ESV) No Christian is free from temptation. Remember, temptation itself isn’t a sin, as Jesus was tempted (Matthew 4). Rather, the sin lies in whether we give in to...
How God Wants Us to Love Him
Weekend, August 24, 2024 How God Wants Us to Love Him And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:5 NLT) When experts in the Mosaic Law asked Jesus a question to try to trap Him, Jesus replied, “ ‘You must love the Lord your God with all...
The High Cost of Price Controls
About forty years ago, Brazils elected president was incapacitated, and his vice-president took office. With a big mustache and painted hair “dark as a crow’s wing,” he looked the part of a populist Latin American politician out of the Comedy Central cast. Unfortunately, there were other less colorful but equally pathetic features of his time in office. In 1986, the...

Apocalypse Soon?
In November 1983, the ABC network premiered The Day After, a film dramatizing World War III from the vantage point of ordinary Americans in and around Lawrence, Kansas. The film provided a plausible flashpoint for conflict: the Warsaw Pact begins a military buildup followed by a blockade of Berlin. When the deadline for an ultimatum passes the next day, NATO...
Nicaragua Taxes Tithes After Closing 1,500 Churches and Nonprofits
A series of policies recently enacted by the Nicaraguan government will significantly impact the activities of churches and ministries operating in the country. Viewed by religious freedom specialists as an effort to increase the states control over religious institutions, the measures impose taxes on tithes and offerings while mandating that organizations create formal partnerships with the Nicaraguan government to carry...
A Prayer for Strength in Moments of Weakness
A Prayer for Strength in Moments of Weakness By Keri Eichberger “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 4:19 Sometimes, I panic under pressure. Like a recent incident when my mom, brother, husband (Mike), and I were caravanning my dad from a hospital in Charleston, South Carolina,...
South Africa’s Brain Drain Takes Wealthy Tithers from Churches
In the last two decades, over 400,000 South Africans have left their country to set up a new life abroad in the US, Europe, Canada, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates. They are mostly highly educated and highly skilled young families looking to escape crime and economic decay at home. This exodus has prompted authorities to warn that South Africas...
