  Can All Religions Be True?

“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” -John 14:6

A story is told about two men who lived in a small village and got into a terrible dispute that neither of them could resolve. So one night, the first man went to the town sage and told him his version of the story. When he was finished, the sage said, “You’re absolutely right.”

The next night, the second man went to the sage and told his side of the story. After he’d said his piece, the sage told him, “You’re absolutely right.”

When the second man left, the sage’s wife scolded her husband. “These two men told you different stories, and you told them both they were right. They can’t both be absolutely right!”

The sage turned to his wife and said, “You’re absolutely right.”

In this day and age, more and more people are choosing consensus over truth. Even many spiritual leaders today validate every system of belief as separate paths to God. But the reality is if two people say very opposite things about God, they can’t both be right!

So what gives us confidence that Christianity is the right path? Quite simply, it’s because all other religions teach man how to reach God, but the Bible teaches that God reached down to us in the person of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is so different than any other spiritual leader. He didn’t come to show the way; He came to be the Way. Trust in Him alone.

  Prayer Challenge

Ask God to confirm in your heart that Jesus is the only way to the Father and thank Him for providing a way.

  Questions for Thought

Why do you believe so many people today would rather choose reaching a consensus over finding spiritual truth?

As you think about the exclusiveness of Jesus’ words in today’s Scripture, how do those words motivate you to share the truth of Jesus with others?

In Pennsylvania, Locals Remember Corey Comperatore’s ‘Greater Love’
Corey Comperatore loved reading Romans. His pastor at Cabot Methodist Church, Jonathan Fehl, recalled how much Comperatore drew strength from the book. It was the first thing hed recommend to new believers. But it may be that Comperatore is remembered by another portion of Scripture, John 15:13: Greater love has no one than this: to lay down ones life for...

Mugged By Reality

The Joy of Escapist Catastrophism
Apocalyptic and dystopian myths today are different from the ones we used to have. The dystopian stories of yesteryear were tragedies—dark cautionary tales with unhappy endings. In The Planet of the Apes, Charlton Heston’s character discovers that the dystopian world ruled by apes he’s been trying to escape was actually Earth all along. Brave New World, 1984, and Animal Farm...
Civilization
Aristotle is known for the theory that there are four causes structuring reality. Best-selling author and American classicist Victor Davis Hanson follows Aristotle’s lead, identifying four causes that transform wars into civilization-ending defeats. Playing Catch
Right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must. Thucydides, The Peloponnesian War In his lead essay, Jerry Hendrix argues that the United States and its leaders are unprepared for the re-emergence of great power competition. We agree that the leaders and...
Religious Liberty in the States
When Americans think about religious liberty, our minds naturally turn to the protections offered by the First Amendment: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” This amendment, and related federal legislation, offer important protections, but there are numerous areas in which states are free to protect, or not protect, religious liberty....

Rest in God
Rest in God Weekly Overview: The Christian life is meant to be marked by simplicity. Jesus summed up our purpose with two statements: love God and love people.
