 
		
	Poet laureate, born Oxford, England, 1606; died London, England, 1668. After the fall of Charles I he went to France, later becoming a Catholic. He revived theatrical performance in England, 1656, and left an unfinished epic and many dramas, exceptionally moral for the period.
