Facebook removes Hamas fan page
Facebook removes Hamas fan page
May 1, 2025 9:32 AM

The networking Web site Facebook removed a fan page dedicated to supporters of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Hayat reported on Sunday.

The report published Sunday, said the Web page titled "Commander Haniyeh" had more than 10,000 friends when it was removed without any explanation.

The Palestinian Maan news agency said one of the supervisors of Haniyeh's site said he feared similar action will be taken against the page devoted to Hamas leader Khaled Mashaal, which has already attracted more than 17,000 friends.

The agency said other pages affiliated with the Hamas movement remain online.

According to the report, "It is likely that the well known website Facebook is under pressure from Israel, the United States, and lobbies that are resisting the Palestinian people and movements of the Palestinian Resistance, among them Hamas."

Since the removal of the webpage, Facebook owners have received a barrage of emails demanding the page be put online again for the sake of freedom of opinion, the paper reported.

Gaza: How biased media manipulates the facts
THE media coverage of the war in Gaza by Western television companies is largely unfair and biased because of a refusal to show viewers the real images of the victims. One of the reasons for this is Israel’s decision not to allow the Western media in to Gaza. In addition...
The Islamophobia machine, a new growth industry (part 2 of 2)
By: Dr. Mohamed Elmasry One of Europe’s Islamophobia industry leaders is Matthias Kuentzel, a political scientist in Hamburg, Germany, of whom his U.S. promoters say: "Since 2004, he has been a research associate at the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Anti-Semitism (SICSA) at the Hebrew University of...
Israel's failure to learn
When George Bush, the US president, first entered the White House as the commander-in-chief in 2001, Palestinians were being killed in the al-Aqsa intifada. Eight years later, as Bush prepares to leave office, Israel is carrying out one of the largest massacres in its 60-year occupation of Palestine. The US,...
"I am Israel"

Investigating Gaza's war crimes
The correspondent Ayman Mohyeldin visited the village of Khuza'a where residents and human rights experts believe a possible war crime took place during Israel's offensive on the Gaza Strip.
